"Knucklehead in Wonderland:
Jon Scieszka's Alice in Wonderland" with Mary Blair sketches
A presentation by Jan Susina at SAMLA 2009 in Atlanta
Here are a few images from the presentation on Jon Scieszka and Mary Blair's Alice in Wonderland. The presentation was adapated into a chapter that appears in The Place of Lewis Carroll in Children's Literature by Jan Susina (Routledge, 2009). My book just came out in paperback in fall 2011 and is available at Amazon.
Here is a .pdf adaptation of the chapter.

A few more photos of Mary Blair's "It's a Small World" ride in Disneyland as it looks in 2011. Go my blog entry, here, for photos from the 2011 Mary Blair exhibit at Disneyland as well as my brief thoughts linking her work to Matisse's cutouts.

"Classic Hollywood: A Colorful Tribute to Mary Blair" by Susan King, LA Times (Oct. 17, 2011) on a panel discussing Blair's contribution to animation and Disney. "So many design elements that were more finessed by the time the stories reached the screen, all had a genesis in her designs," said Michael Giaimo, art director on Disney's 1995 "Pocahontas" and visual development artist on 2004's "Home on the Range."
